Grooming and It's Effects on Hair LossAvoid combing or brushing hair with a fine tooth comb Hair straightens and detangles much easier when hair is wet. However, the stress on the hair shaft is immense and you could damage your hair considerably by continuing to comb your hair while wet. That also goes for brushing your hair as well. The 100 brush stroke rule is a lie! Over brushing or over combing the hair will cause damage to your hair. It might look nice but in reality brushing your hair excessivly could contribute to hair loss. Don't Shampoo your hair too much Clean hair is always a good thing but not when you are constantly shampooing your hair. Too much shampooing could strip your hair of the nutrients that it needs for healthy growth. Choose the right shampoo A shampoo with a pH level of 5.5 is ideal. Don't buy shampoos that include conditioners. Shampoo and conditioner products are often very weak. The stand-alone shampoos and conditioners are often much more powerful. Don't use anti-dandruff shampoos They contain formaldehyde, an ingredient that is cancer causing and dangerous to your entire system. They also contain selenium sulfate, a subtance that is known to cause degeneration of the liver. Polyvinyl Pyrrlidone Plastic and cresol are both very toxic and also found in most anti-dandruff shampoos. Worst of all, they don't work. While Shampooing... Always poor the shampoo into your hands and then rub it into your scalp. If you pour it into the hair at one spot it could gunk up and cause you problems. Make sure you massage the shampoo into your hair with your finger tips and palms but not with your fingernails.
